What goes into
your nutrition score?

Actual ingredient and nutrition information, a named calculation, and a clear explanation of what is known.

The nutritional model

The completed calculation follows UK NPM 2018. It assesses energy, saturated fat, free sugars and salt alongside eligible protein, fiber and fruit, vegetable, nut and seed contributions. The method defines the thresholds and when protein contributes.

Required inputs must use the model’s definitions and preparation basis. Ingredient order is not a recipe percentage, and total sugars cannot automatically replace free sugars.

From model points to 1–100

The original model’s lower points describe a more favorable nutritional profile. TruthScore reverses and scales the theoretical −20 to 40 range so higher displayed numbers are more favorable.

roundHalfUp(1 + 99 × (40 − model points) / 60)

This is the TS-NUTRITION-DISPLAY-1 adaptation. The report retains the original method and calculation. The number describes a nutritional profile, not a medical percentage. No letter grade is used in the current nutrition display.

When you see an estimate

TS-LABEL-ESTIMATE-1 is a separate provisional calculation. It uses available source quantities and varies unsupported contributions across the model’s range, then shows the midpoint of the resulting 1–100 bounds.

A midpoint does not establish the values of unknown quantities. The displayed range is not a statistical confidence interval. Read the assumptions beside the estimate; a per-100-ml estimate is an adaptation of a reference model that uses mass.

These estimates are not completed UK NPM assessments, independently verified label measurements, or validated predictions of personal health. They must not be ranked as equivalent to reviewed results.

And the rest of your choice?

Does certified organic or grass-fed add points?

These are production attributes with their own standards and source records. They do not automatically add nutritional points. Compare the actual nutrient quantities and inspect the claim separately.

Can I choose by the number alone?

Check your allergens, dietary needs, amount eaten and overall eating pattern. For water, a nutrient profile does not test purity or contaminants. A favorable number cannot override a relevant allergen.

Why can the result change?

A new formula, updated source record, corrected amount or method revision may change a calculation. The exact product and method version belong with the result.
